Code of Conduct

IndabaX Burundi follows the Deep Learning Indaba Code of Conduct to help create respectful, inclusive and safe spaces.

Shared reference

One code, applied locally.

This page explains how that shared reference applies to IndabaX Burundi activities without creating a competing local code.

01

Our Commitment

IndabaX Burundi seeks respectful, inclusive and safe spaces for participants, speakers, volunteers, organizers and partners. Our activities follow the Deep Learning Indaba Code of Conduct and apply it in the context of our local community activities.

02

Expected Conduct

Treat people with dignity. Listen across differences. Communicate constructively. Respect consent, privacy, names and boundaries. Follow organizer and venue safety instructions. Make room for participation across experience levels, disciplines, languages and backgrounds. Raise concerns responsibly and in good faith.

03

Unacceptable Conduct

Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, unwanted sexual attention, threats, deliberate humiliation, stalking, violence, retaliation, persistent disruption, malicious disclosure of private information and other conduct that makes community participation unsafe are not acceptable.

04

Scope

These expectations apply within IndabaX Burundi physical events, workshops, online spaces, community channels and directly related activities. They do not claim authority over unrelated private life or spaces outside the community’s activities.

05

Reporting Concerns

Use the private reporting pathway linked on this page. Share only the information you are comfortable providing and that may help the authorized team understand the concern. Reports, complainant details and internal notes are private and are not published. If there is an immediate risk of harm, contact appropriate local emergency or support services.

06

Response and Enforcement

Authorized organizers may acknowledge a report, gather relevant information, take proportionate interim safety measures and decide an appropriate response. Responses may include guidance, a warning, removal from an activity, restriction from community spaces or referral to an appropriate authority when necessary. Privacy will be respected as far as reasonably possible, but absolute confidentiality cannot be promised when action is needed to protect people.
